What a night for our city. People driving too fast on icy roads, celebration with too much bubbly (or other unknown substances), house fire after house fire, assaults with knives, guns and garbage cans.......so many calls we worked our asses off to keep up. I'm exhausted. As I lay in bed listening to the winter wind howl, I can't help but think of how many lives have changed today. Everyday I see people's lives drastically change - a feeling I wasn't prepared for when I took this job.
Lana is sleeping at my side and the horses are tucked away in their stalls. I'm so thankful for my peaceful country home. As much as I hate the commute I love getting away from the rat race I deal with everyday.
The topper to end the year was receiving notice that I'm scheduled for the next step in the cross-over process to the fire department.
What a year!

Excited for the crossover becoming more and more real! :D
Happy New Year.
Sounds like a crazy shift!! :( Sorry you guys were so busy witnessing someone's crappy evening over and over. It must be nice to be able to help them out, though.
Yay on the next step on crossing over!
