Just a quick update (from what I've heard. This is by no way confirmed as fact but mearly what we've heard from the peeps on the street).
The firefighters involved in the explosion are doing well. 3 suffered concussions, and 1 had the finger tip of his glove (NOT his finger) cut off by a flying piece of shrapnel. Equipment is being assessed for damages as many trucks also sustained damage from shrapnel from the explosion. There were 3 blow-away roofs in the building designed for incidents such as this - not only were those destroyed from the explosion but the entire building as well. That's one fierce kaboom.
The city medic involved in the first accident (where he was standing on the scene and a man - later charged with DUI - struck another another vehicle on the scene) is also doing well. Thankfully his injuries were cuts and bruises. He is resting at home as per doctor's orders.
The medic involved in the MVC at highway speeds is in ICU. He was transported by STARS to our local trauma center. The last I heard they were working to repair the damage to his legs, and were keeping him sedated and intubated to assist in the recovery of the chest trauma he sustained (no further details are available, and again this information has not been confirmed.)
Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery.
